My Prayer as a Teacher

And now I will show you the most excellent way.

If I have the most effective curriculum, but have not love, I am just a noisy school bell or the grating sound of fingernails on a chalkboard. And if I have the highest enrollment, and all the money for after school activities and field trips, and if I have chapels every Friday, but have not love, I am nothing. If I graduate every student, and if I have staff who stay all hours of the evening to finish their grading and do their lesson plans, but have not love, I gain nothing.

(Adapted from 1 Corinthians 13)

*************

I fall short every day in showing my students who Jesus is. I cannot live up to His model of perfection. I am so grateful to work at a school where I can do my best to TRY to live up to Jesus' example. I can pray with my students and of course, pray for them. I have parents of students who pray for me and for the school! My coworkers encourage and uplift me. It is truly a blessing to work at a private Christian school. God doesn't just watch over the school I work at. He walks up and down the halls with the kids, sits in our classrooms with us, and laughs and cries with us. I would not be a teacher without Him.
